Spencer Wright

Spencer is a lawyer practising exclusively in litigation and has been involved in litigation matters at all levels of Queensland Courts. 

Spencer has appeared (successfully) as a solicitor advocate on several applications, with most being against opposing counsel, including multiple King’s Counsel in the Supreme Court. Spencer has also instructed Junior Counsel and King’s Counsel in the District Court, Supreme Court and Court of Appeal and has (successfully) run multiple trials and hearing in lower courts and in QCAT. 

In January 2019, Spencer opened his own firm, Gibbs Wright Litigation Lawyers. In its short history, Gibbs Wright, and Spencer, have received Best Lawyers, Ones to Watch awards for both 2023 and 2024.   

Focusing exclusively on litigation, Gibbs Wright has a particular emphasis on property disputes and business disputes. Spencer has represented clients with a variety of backgrounds, including an ASX 20 listed company, property development ($100m+), property syndicates ($300m+), directors, investors, shareholders, farmers, industry leading steel distribution, import/export businesses, manufacturers, telecommunication and technology companies. 

Spencer’s areas of interest are large and complex disputes, and is commonly involved in multi-million-dollar disputes. 

Spencer comes from a business background, including in health, printing and consulting, and is able to draw on that experience to provide his clients practical solutions to sometimes very difficult legal problems. Spencer is also on a panel to improve the processes of all litigation lawyers across Queensland and enjoys developing young junior lawyers into fierce litigators.
